School Struggle Checklist

Having trouble untangling the typical kid-stuff school challenges from the “be concerned and get involved” ones?

Let’s sort that out! Get the FREE School Struggle Checklist and ask yourself 5 key questions to get one straightforward task you can do right now to help.

Parents aren’t taught how to navigate the struggles our kids will face at school.

We’re not born knowing how to do this, and we don’t get any training along the way.

What if helping your kid at school actually made a difference?

  • Homework that doesn’t end in a battle.

  • A support plan that actually gets used.

  • A teacher who understands what your kid needs.

  • A school meeting that ends with clear next steps.

That’s where I come in.

Whether you’re confused about why your child is struggling or you know exactly where they’re getting stuck, I help you stop playing school-struggle whack-a-mole and get to the problem that actually needs solving so you can focus on what will make a difference and get the school on board.

The School Support Roadmap

SEE THE WHOLE KID

The problem you see isn’t always the problem you need to solve.

Missing assignments, homework battles, avoidance, falling grades—they’re often signs that something else is getting in the way. Looking at the whole kid helps uncover patterns, connect the dots, and get a clearer picture of what’s really going on.

TARGET THE NEXT WIN

Know where to focus first.

Once you understand what’s getting in the way, it’s easier to zero in on what matters most right now. Instead of trying another planner, tutor, or routine and hoping something sticks, you’re choosing a next step based on what your kid actually needs

ADVOCATE WITHOUT SECOND-GUESSING

Knowing what your kid needs makes advocacy easier.

A clearer picture of what’s going on and where to focus gives you something concrete to bring to school conversations. You have specific information to share, better questions to ask, and a clearer idea of the support you’re working toward.

PLAY THE LONG GAME

Effective school support isn’t a one-and-done deal.

Use what you’ve learned to ask better questions, make informed decisions, and advocate for the support your kid needs at school. Strengthen your follow-through and build the confidence to speak up when something isn’t working or needs to change.

Portland Oregon parent coach for school success

Parent Coach & School Navigator

Years ago, my kid’s teacher pulled me aside at pickup and said, “Something needs to change.”

She wasn’t wrong. But no one could tell me what needed to change or why school had become such a struggle in the first place.

That kicked off years of learning how to ask better questions, navigate the school system, and advocate for what my kid really needed. Along the way, I became the parent who knew the acronyms, read the research, and asked a million questions.

Today, I use those 15+ years of parenting, research, and school advocacy to help other parents move past the trial-and-error and get the right help in place.

Because when you know what problem you’re actually trying to solve, you can stop guessing and start making a difference.
